    Dr. Xiaoning Lu is currently the LC Solutions R&D manager with Restek Corporation. Xiaoning is responsible for the daily operation of the LC Solutions R&D and leading the group in the development of innovative liquid chromatography products and solutions for the analysis of both small and large molecules (e.g. peptides and proteins) in challenging complex matrices. Besides HPLC product development, Xiaoning is also interested in the development of MS-based methods for high throughput omics applications (e.g. metabolomics and proteomics), and environmental, food, clinical and drug analyses.

    Before joining Restek in September 2017, Xiaoning had worked with Supelco/Sigma-Aldrich (now MilliporeSigma) as a Sr. Scientist for 9 years. Xiaoning had led various sample preparation and HPLC production development projects. Xiaoning was one of the principal developers of the HybridSPE product line including 96-well plates, cartridges and in-line traps, among other products.

    Xiaoning received a Ph.D. degree in analytical chemist from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002. He did a postdoctoral training at University of Kentucky from 2002-2005 and then was the Director of Proteomics at University of North Dakota in 2006-2008, just prior to joining industry. Xiaoning has published 17 articles in peer-reviewed analytical journals and filed multiple patents.

    In leisure time, Xiaoning enjoys gardening, sports (basketball, kayaking and walking), music and movies.

    The increasing concerns on environmental and food safety poses the needs for higher efficiency analytical methods. LC/MS/MS has become the method of choice due to its unparalleled selectivity and sensitivity. The presentation introduces Restek’s recent development of superficially porous particle column technologies to significantly improve the LC/MS/MS speed, chromatography efficiency, selectivity and sensitivity. These are demonstrated by application examples including the screening and analysis of 190+ pesticides and multiple mycotoxins in various food matrices, 41 pharmaceuticals personal care products (PPCP) on a Raptor Biphenyl column and 34 Per & polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) on a Raptor C18 column, respectively.
